What is Professional Supervision?
Working under supervision means that a practitioner uses the services of another more experienced and qualified practitioner to support reflection in their practice with clients.
Through guided conversations with an experienced supervisor, you’ll have the opportunity to explore challenges, refine your skills, and strengthen your ethical practice. Supervision also supports your personal development, helping you navigate the emotional demands of your role with greater self-awareness and confidence.
Why is Supervision Important?
Supervision provides a structured and confidential space to:
- Enhance client outcomes by reflecting on challenges and strategies.
- Deepen self-awareness and refine your practice
- Manage stress and prevent burnout, reducing the risk of vicarious trauma
- Strengthen ethical decision-making and professional boundaries
- Develop new skills and confidence in your role
Who Benefits from Supervision?
If you work in a helping profession, regular supervision is essential for both personal and professional development.
Tanya provides clinical supervision for:
- Social workers (including those seeking AASW-accredited social work supervision in Brisbane)
- Counsellors & psychotherapists
- Teachers & educators
- Psychologists
- Community & youth workers
- Allied health professionals
- Practitioners working in drug & alcohol services
Supervision is beneficial at every career stage, whether you’re a new graduate, an experienced practitioner, or transitioning into leadership or private practice.

Meet Tanya Genito – Founder of Total Wellness Therapies and Mood In Mind

“My philosophy is I value difference, honesty, integrity, finding your own path, standing out from the crowd, connection and relationship. I strongly believe people can be empowered to find their own answers. I know I am not a fixer, and I don’t have all the answers although I might have a suggestion or two. I can sit with you in your chaos, tolerate stuckness and I am not afraid of being afraid and can walk into the dark places with you.”
